Pastures of Plenty Story
The owners of Pastures of Plenty Farm are the third family to call this rare property home, which was homesteaded in the 1880’s. Pioneers in the farm-to-table movement, the owners include serving as original founders of Boulder County Farmers Markets, Alfalfa’s Markets, Big Bang Catering, Catering By Plenty and Fresh Ideas Group. They lovingly converted this unique property, just 12-minute drive from cities of Longmont and Boulder, to a productive and working organic cut-flower and vegetable farm, and Boulder’s first farm-to-table event venue for weddings, employee parties, and other celebrations. The farm has also been honored to actively promote organic standards and practices and served as host to large gatherings for Organic Trade Association, Organic Farming Research Foundation, the Organic Summit, the International Culinary Association, Chefs Collaborative, Slow Food and The Savory Institute.
For 14 years the farm has enjoyed an extremely active “Experiential Community Supported Agriculture” platform with an average of 70 shareholders. Recently the farm added new enterprises through its website’s e-commerce and its family’s network of talent including: yoga classes, cooking classes, and healing retreats.
The farm was rebuilt in the nineties on a foundational philosophy good food matters, and really good food starts with organic and regenerative practices. The owners have tried to build more than a farm – they have endeavored to build habitat based on land stewardship and created a culture of hospitality and deliciousness as close as their farm fields.
